When you are ready to apply for benefits, there are three different ways of SSDI filing. Working directly with your lawyer the entire time, we will help you find the right strategy. By contacting us early in the process, we can make sure you fully understand your options before deciding to take action:

  • Call the Social Security Administration's (SSA) toll free number, 800-772-1213. While this is the easiest way to make an application, it is also the least efficient.
  • You can go in person to the closest SSA district office and file an application for benefits. This is a more difficult and time consuming, but you will get the forms and someone from SSA to help you with them.
  • The third and final option is to file online through the SSA website. If you choose to proceed with this option, we can walk you through the process, either over the phone or at our office. This option is efficient and can save you the burden of a trip to the Social Security office.

The advantage of working with an attorney who has been through the process before is that you can make sure all your answers are in the right form. We will tell you what information you will need to make your application successful. By getting our firm involved early in the process, we can make sure all necessary documentation is sent to the right place in a timely manner.

Many clients who try filing for Social Security disability on their own make honest mistakes which end up preventing them from getting benefits upon their initial application. Whether they fail to inform SSA of all their medical conditions affecting their ability to work or they give the wrong onset date of their disability, it only take one mistake in an application to prevent benefits.

We know what the SSA is looking for and we know how to make sure our clients are filing for Social Security disability in the best way possible. If your initial application has been denied, don't give up. We can help you through the SSDI appeals process. You may have more options than you realize.
